Second lesson & planning...
Had the second lesson today~~ ^.^ I was SO sick in the morning, I hadn't slept well (mainly because worrying over arranging my studies and when to do what) and the flu was getting really bad, but after drinking something warm and taking a bit painkillers, I was in pretty okay condition :3 And I managed to be more at ease with the students too, and even got them to talk about some subjects relating to what were discussing in the class, even their own teacher said afterwards how she was surprised the students wanted to talk about those *happy* They're a really active group, so it's really a nice group to have as the first one. The main difficulties for me are how to handle that some of them are a lot slower than others, and also that they ask a lot. Asking is a GOOD thing!! But I just don't have the readiness to trust myself in being able to give them good enough explanations ^^; But most of the time I did well at least... (Btw, when we started on talking about different idioms, and I was explaining about differences between countries and how culture related can be hard to understand etc, aside from telling about English and Finnish idioms, I wrote one Japanese one as an example, and the teacher said the students had been pretty amazed by that XD)
Next lesson gonna wrap up the last of what we've been dealing here, and move onto the next one... Which is about Johnny Depp. The title of the text is "Johnny Depp: bad boy, actor, perfect dad" and the focus in the chapter is really with the family :3 So... ALL THE JOHNNY DEPP FANS, GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!! XDD; What kind of material I should use here? The teacher said I could show a bit from a DVD, and said they have at least Pirates of the Caribbean at school too I think, but if I show something, there should be an idea WHY it is there, and what I'm gonna do with it (like how I was following high school 2nd year students today, the 7th course which is about nature related things, and they watched a bit of Erin Brockovich when they had a text that dealt with her work) Pirates of the Caribbean would show well about the different roles Depp can do, which is important part of the text (of how Depp took so many different roles, showing his skills, and having the "bad boy" image for a long time etc) if I could have something else there too... Dad actually suggested Edward Scissorhands, which is what I was thinking too actually, but I doubt the school would have that XD; But yeah, ideas? Like some specific scene you might think would be good if I choose the Pirates? Or something unrelated to DVDs you might think could be useful... I think I might show some pictures of the Pirates ride from Tokyo Disney before we start the subject, to make them guess what we're gonna be focusing on next XDD I'll try making most of the planning for next class today, since I have both tomorrow and the day after work, but I'm gonna rest just a little bit before starting... *dies*
PS. I so want to get the KAT-TUN con DVD... >>;; Because there's EbiKisu and MSM!!!!!!! But... ARGH!! I already didn't get any of the other DVDs too, so... *shakes head* Maybe from Japan next year..?
